چکیده

The objective of this paper is to investigate the viscous shear heating effect on the formation of minimum film thickness in inlet zone of the hydrostatic extrusion process as function of various operating parameters. Minimum film thicknesses in the inlet zone has been evaluated at various extrusion speeds, material parameters, extrusion pressures, and die semiangle for extrusion of low strength material. A strong numerical technique is used in the investigation of inlet zone of a hydrostatic extrusion process considering viscous shear heat generation and convection & conduction modes of heat removals for the study of the minimum film thickness.

Experimental and Finite Element Analyses of the Hydrostatic Cyclic Expansion Extrusion (HCEE) Process with Back-Pressure

It is generally known that severe plastic deformation processes with back pressure not only apply higher hydrostatic stress and more deformation compared to what a regular process can apply to a workpiece but also prevent surface defects in the workpiece during the process. Hydrostatic cyclic expansion extrusion (HCEE) was developed recently for processing long ultrafine-grained metals and allo...

Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) Modeling of Material Flow in Dissimilar Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Alloys

In this work, the finite element simulation of dissimilar friction stir welding process is investigated. The welded materials are AA 6061-T6 and AA 7075-T6 aluminum alloys. For this purpose, a 3D coupled thermo-mechanical finite element model is developed according to the Coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method. The CEL method has the advantages of both Lagrangian and Eulerian approaches, whic...

Effect of rotational speed in friction stir welding on the material transfer mechanism in commercial pure aluminum

Friction stir welding (FSW) is an economic and high quality technique at aluminum welding and joining methods. The most important factor in the soundness of this type of welding, is the mechanism of material transfer in each tool rotation. The materials transfer during the welding process involves horizontal and vertical movement that caused by extrusion process and forging force (the tilt angl...

Modeling and simulation of forward Al extrusion process using FEM

The main objective of this paper is to study the effect of extrusion parameters (extrusion stresses and temperature) and die geometry, i.e. extrusion radius, on the extruded aluminum quality using FEM Simulation Technique. For this purpose, the general FEA Software ABAQUS was used to set up the finite element model of the warm aluminum extrusion in two dimensions (2D). Aluminum alloy Al-2014 wa...

An Analysis on the Forming Characteristics of commercial pure Aluminum AA 1100 in Radial-Forward Extrusion Process

Abstract: In this paper, the forming process of a central hub by radial-forward extrusion is analyzed by using the finite element software, ABAQUS. Radial-forward extrusion is used to produce hollow parts that generally feature a central hub with radial protrusions. Effective design factors such as mandrel diameter, die corner radius, die fillet radius, mandrel corner radius, tube wall thick...
